The Honest Calendar

There is no bad season, there are different seasons.

On the mountain side, rain falls earlier and clears faster than on the lagoon side. A wet afternoon doesn't cancel a day.

May - October Dry Season

Cooler air, comfortable nights without air conditioning, calm sea in the morning. It's also peak season, so book early.

July - November Whale Season

Humpback whales pass offshore, peaking from mid-August to October. You can sometimes hear them from the trail before seeing them.

November - April Hot Season

Humid, green, spectacular. Rain falls hard and briefly, often in the late afternoon.

January - March Quiet Time

Few crowds, lower rates, full waterfalls. Provided you're willing to change plans once a day.

The Essentials in Ten Lines

If you only read one box, read this one.

The rest is in the guides. This is what we repeat at every arrival, suitcase still in hand.
